Down at the beach - Kwinana Beach

Hi all just want to share a few photos from a recent trip to the local beach, Kwinana beach is a nice little beach it offers, Fishing Boating, Swimming Snorkelling there is toilets and a BBQ Area, there is also a cafe across the road. There used to be a jetty but that was demolished and removed last year, after a storm a few years ago damaged it and was never repaired.

My Daughters and I went there recently for the sunset but unfortunately there wasn't a great deal of cloud around this day

Bells Rapids Photowalk

Today we went on a trip to Bells Rapids in the afternoon to meet up with some fellow photographers on a photowalk, all of us went today the wife and the kids as well, the kids had a great time I think the walk was around the 5km, around the bells rapids area. we had plenty of rest breaks on the way for the kids to have a rest and a run around. The walk wasn't all that hard and quite pleasent.

Here are a few photos from the walk.

Daytrip Brookton, York and a Quick stop at Mundaring Wier

Today we decided to do a family trip out in the outskirts of the WA Wheatbelt, We packed up the car with our lunch, drinks in the esky and headed off on our trip, the Kids are only little so we make plenty of stops at Playgrounds etc so they can stretch thier legs and have a run around, I reckon they probably have seen more Playgrounds than the average child by now they enjoy it though. We headed off through Roleystone along Brookton Highway, heading towards  Brookton which will be out first stop approxiamately 125km away from home,  probably have lunch a walk around and head towards York.

After having a look around having lunch we headed off to York, if I see old ruins on the way I usually stop and take a few images if time permits this time there was an old home and a silo on the way where I stopped for a couple of pics.

This trip we had plans to visit the old homesite of My wifes ancestors, The Parkers and Wyborns whom also come from the same family as Lord John Forrest and Alexanda Forrest whom had also descended from the same Family line, I am right into researching the Family tree at the moment, so this trip will be a little interesting, unfortunately we were not able to enter homesite as it is still privately owned.

We arrived into York and had a wander around town got some fresh drinks, there is a huge Family and Caravan Rest area along the side of the Avon River in town ghas all the amenities and the hops are very close by, plenty of playground area for the kids to have a run around, here is a few snaps from around York,

After a wander around town we tried the locate the old homesite which is pretty much near the end of the town we found the Balladong Farm first, thinking it was where we had to go but the homesite was located elsewhere after returning back to town we found the old homesite. surprisingly for something that is over 150 Years old most of the bvuildingd are still standing, it is fenced off so I could only get  phoitos from outside the fence.

After stopping at the homesite we headed for home we made a quick stop to have a look at Mundaring Wier on the way.

Serpentine Pipe-Head Dam and Serpentine Dam

After Leaving Ellis Brook Reserve I headed towards Jarrahdale it about a 30 min drive roughly, I stopped for lunch on the way through. My first stop was Serpentine Pipe-Head Dam this is one of my Favourite places to go to look for birds to photograph there is also a picnic area with BBQ’S and picnic tables under cover, toilets including accessible, there is also a playground for the children. There are a few walk trails to check out some taking you some Granite outcrops and along the Serpentine River. It is very quiet here but does get busy at certain times of the year, it is also seasonable so can be closed at times especially during a high fire danger warning, there is no swimming around here as far as I know, but there is a Recreation Lake for Sailing Model boats. I believe it is all a part of our Drinking water Catchment.

After having a wander around and taking some photographs I hopped in the car and headed out towards Serpentine Main dam this was also a short stop took a few photographs and headed off. There was a Kangaroo that I could get reasonably close, to get some photos of it but if I got too close it would let out a little growl. The main dam is much larger than the pipe head there is also a café here and a lower and upper picnic area, the lower one has more Tables and BBQ’s, than the upper area, with visits from Kangaroos, Currawongs, Parrots and many other types of birds. It can be very nice in the Autumn months when the trees are changing colour and start to lose their leaves. The Upper Car park has the café close by and great views from the dam wall, which you will drive over from the upper to the lower picnic areas there is no stopping with your car, but you can walk along it. Both Picnic Areas have toilets as well

I didn’t stay long at the main dam, just a quick look around but here is a photo of the grumpy Kangaroo

I will plan another trip to the main dam in the future
