Out In Perth Hills Boulder Rock and Wungong Dam
Today was one of my regular trips depending on how much time I have the usual trip is into Rolystone maybe go to Roley and Thompsons Pool, Churchman Brook Dam, Canning Dam, and Wungong dam or skip the 2 pools and go for a drive up Brookton Highway, Todays trip was a bit shorter I had only decided to go for a drive later on in the morning sop I stopped at Boulder rock to put the drone up and have a wander around and then cut through to Albany highway to stop at Wungong dam, My first stop as usual was the shop to get drinks and food for the trip then I headed up to Brookton Highway to Visit Boulder Rock. This time of year the fungi season is nearly over but you still get the occasional ones pop up here and there, and some of the birds are starting to get there nests ready for Breeding Season.
After spending an hour or so at boulder rock I headed toward Canning Dam stopped there to use the amenities and a quick walk around didn't really take any photos here, so I hopped in the car and went to Wungong dam, there was some Splendid Wrens around there today, here are a few photos from Wungong Dam

Out in the garden
Sometimes when I am at home I get bored and just play with the cameras in the backyard, I recently purchased some Grevillias which I hope in the future will attract native birds in the garden, I already have a couple of birdbaths set up, Sometimes I just play with Macro extension tubes or diferent lenses on different cameras, just to see the difference in quality from each camera which in future enables me to work out the right combination of Cameras, lenses and settings for different conditions, scenarios etc. I also like to play with editing techniques as well, so here are a few images that I have taken at home recently. They are nothing exciting but I don't have a lot of options at the moment

Out and about in Perth Hills 24-06-2025
A few weeks ago when I was looking for places to go on Google Maps, I came across a large area of bushland with a few granite outcrops spread around, I have been curious about this place for a few weeks but couldn't work out how to get there, I noticed there was a few tracks around and it was close to a rest area, I don't always get the chance to use Forester for my trips, the other car is an old I30 ,and I can't take that offroad much, so after spending some time on Google maps, I found a route to get there but with the use of my Mountain bike, so I folded the back car seats down and took the front wheel off the bike and put it in the back of the I30. Making my way to the rest area unloaded the bike put the front wheel back on, luckily it has the quick release wheel nuts,
I grabbed the camera bag and off I went, I worked out that it was about a 1.5km ride, not that far I was confident my knee was going to handle it. I often ride to the local bushlands which is around a 3.5 km return trip maybe a little longer, one day I rode about 7km, and my knee was fine. but this day I didn't take any hills into consideration getting there was the easy part, it was the journey back and the soft muddy sand and a slight up hill ride, not a big hill but not being real fit, that caused issues with my knee, I managed to get back ok but just wasn't used riding in the bush like that, I did attach my gopro to the bike for the trip, and took a few videos. I plan to go back again, but with the forester so I can drive there next time. Here is some snaps from there. I did put the drone up as well, I left some of the camera gear at home so I could fit the drone in my back pack.
.
There was also a lot of dumped rubbish around the area which was disappointing, it was very muddy and it looks like when it rains a lot there is a quite a bit of water flow travelling around this granite outcrop, after getting some photos it was time to make the trip back to the car. When I got back to the it was pack the bike and cameras away, I grabbed a drink and just sat in the car recovering for a while. After I had recovered I headed of back to Roley pool for a quick walk and to practice some long exposures.
