Image
Today I decided to go down to Point Peron I haven’t been there for a while, so I popped down for a couple of hours just wondering around and taking photos. Didn’t do much else apart from a quick stop at Shoalwater Beach I was going to put the drone up there, but it was quite windy.   Here are a few random photos I took while down there.     All images are copyright Mark A. Daytrip 02-03-2025 – Brunswick, Collie, Arthur River, Williams

Image
Today Karen and I had the day off so we decided to go for a drive out into the country, the trip today we thought we would go down Southwest Highway find a pub for lunch and visit Wellington Dam then Collie and head home via Arthur River on Albany Hwy.   It was quite a warm day today around 35 degrees most of the trip being the start of Autumn the fields and bush is all dry after a warm summer with hardly any rain, we fuelled up in Byford and continued along Southwest Highway, we didn’t stop much as the trip was nearly 500km long, more just to have a look what is around for future trips, scouting for old homesites to photograph and some granite outcrops, which I love to photograph.   Our first stop was for lunch as it was close to Midday when we left, we stopped at the Wokalup   Hotel to see what was on offer for lunch, it was quite busy and it looked like the staff were run off their feet none of the empty tables were clean, and the menu was quite disapp...

Oakly Dam 21-02-2025

Image
Today My Daughter an I decided to go for a drive to have a look at Oakly Dam near Pinjarra, she found it online a while ago but it was too hot at the time to go, we left late morning stopped for lunch on the way we took her Jeep today not knowing what the track conditions would be like the tracks weren't than bad it was rough in a couple of places. We arrived at the car park and had a look around, there is Picnic tables here but no toilets or water apart from the dam the walk around the Dam is around 600m with some climbing and steep drops not good for someone who has a bad knee as I found out. but it is not hard all around the first 300m or so depending on which way you walk is the hardest.   We had a look around and headed of towards home.     All images are copyright Mark A. Aurora Australias 01-01-2025

Image
Today is the start of the new year and there was talk of the Aurora Australias would be visible in the Southern Hemisphere, we had just had a big solar storm so I decide to setup the camera in the backyard to see if I could capture it, This will be a first for me I walked out the back and could see a pinkish tinge on the horizon so Idecided to set my camera up. I was so excited to see I had knocked one thing of my bucket list, my only regret is I wish I had gone somewhere other than the backyard to capture it. All Images are copyright Mark A. Out with the drone (Henderson Cliffs - Lake Coogee)

Image
Today was a short trip, just wanted to do something that I thought of a while ago when I first bought the drone. I regularly visit the cliffs for photos and I used to fish here when I was younger with my nephew, spent many mornings and nights here fishing and on 1 occasion we did an all-nighter, I have only had the drone for a couple of months and still not over confident of flying it over or near water. I only have two batteries for the Dji Spark, but I do have a couple more  on order plus some other accessories.  I only have around 24 to 26 mins flight time, so I put it up took a few videos and some photos. I launched it from the car park today, it was quite windy and I didn't want to fly it too far away from me just incase it got blown away, The wind was getting stronger so I opted to land it and head towards home, so I never managed to do what I wanted to do in the end it was basically up shoot and down again.        ...
