Day trip to Yenyenning Lakes (Bally Bally)

Today my daughter and I had planned a trip to go for a drive to Yenyenning Lakes in Bally Bally, the drive there took around 3 hrs with the amount of stopping and starting we did on the way down to look at a few things on the way. We left home around 10 am, stopped for fuel and some food and drinks to keep in the fridge for the trip, after getting what we needed we headed for Brookton highway, stopping at and old tin house for a couple of photos, ( I usually stop here for photos when heading towards Brookton) taking a detour on Westdale road to stop at the St John of God in the Wilderness church, opposite the church on Private property is the old ruins of the homestead of one of the original Pioneers in the area, the name slips my mind this post was written a few months after. (I still have a lot of posts to catch up on from the last couple of years of places I have visited)

After stopping at the church we headed off towards Brookton, where we stopped to stretch our legs have a feed and visit the amenities, I tried to visit the lakes a few weeks ago but couldn't locate the road to get to the main Recreational area, I used Google maps to get there and it took to the other side of the lakes outside someones property which at the time they were getting the ground ready for the wheat season, I did notice and on Homestead off in the distance on the property which I would of loved to check out, I had no phone service so all I could do was turn around and head home to do a little more research, I tried to locate the main entrance by driving around a bit to have a look, in the end I gave up and went home, after I got home looking at the maps on google I was headed in the right direction just didn't go far enough around to get there. I since then have bought myself a map book just incase I get in that situation again, I just need to remember to take it with me.

We headed off towards Yenyenning Lakes on the way I noticed the Bally Bally hall which we ended up stopping on the way home for a few photos, when I was looking at the maps I noticed a place called County Peak so we stopped by to have a look it was a lookout overlooking the local landscape and a view of the Lakes from afar, we attempted to climb it but we both struggled to get to the top, My knee didn't like it and my daughter didn't really have the right footwear on to climb a steep hill, so we decided we would go back another day more prepared.

After Spending some time at County peak we headed towards Yeyenning Lakes, on the way I had seen another ruin of and old building on Private Property, so I stopped for some Photos.

When we arrived at Yenyenning lakes there were a few campers over in the distance, and the lakes still had a little bit of water in them, although there was a lot of Bullants around, I grabbed the drone launches it took a few photos Packed it away and we had a little walk around and headed back towards home, where we stopped at Bally Bally Hall and I noticed a bit of an area where I wanted to stop and take some photos of on the way home, although it was getting late in the afternoon and the sun was in the direction of where I wanted to photograph so it was a little challenging.

We finally arrived home around 5:30pm overall our trip turned out to be around 370Km it was a nice drive and I plan to do another one in the future,
